ARE YOU COMMITTING TO KEN OR THE TABI SWIPER THIS HALLOWEEN?

ARE YOU COMMITTING TO KEN OR THE TABI SWIPER THIS HALLOWEEN?

Arguably the scariest part of the Halloween season is to be caught dead without a costume. Or worse, one that misses the mark completely. The days of trick-or-treating may be long gone but that’s no excuse to skip the holiday that calls for a horror-themed party. Dressing up is not all that complicated if you have tricks up your sleeve. It’s even more fun when there’s pop-culture references you could refer to. Think 2023’s slew of movies, odd celebrity couple sightings, and even viral TikToks like the infamous Tabi swiper. If you're still in need of inspiration, we’ve got you covered below.

Setting your sights on being Ken this Halloween? Simply reach for pinks, pastels and tropical patterns that are perfect for the beach offs. Bleach blonde or not, dressing up as Ken opens up all kinds of possibilities. You’re free to pick between a swimsuit, denim on denim set, a fur coat, “I am Kenough” hoodie or a fringed cowboy ensemble. It’s a look that simply requires you to commit to the part.

On the flip side, you could pair up with someone to go full Barbenheimer this Halloween. If it really boils down to a last-minute costume, pull out a grey suit, dress shoes and blue collared-shirt to go as J.Robert Oppenheimer. For extra credit, aim for high-waisted trousers, a K-6 badge and a pork-pie hat. Don’t forget to have a martini or cigarette in hand too. After that, it’s up to you to take the look further by doubling down on Cillian Murphy’s unforgettable million-yard stare.

Though we’re yet to see Timothee Chalamet’s take on Wonka in cinemas, you could try getting ahead of the curve and dress the part. To achieve the look, start with a patterned shirt and scarf. The more eclectic, the better. Next, get a long maroon jacket or green waistcoat that mimics the pieces used by the titular character. Striped pants and brown shoes, be it loafers or boots will complete the look. If television is up your alley, perhaps Succession’s fan-favourite Kendall Roy would be easy to pull off by following the quiet luxury route. All you need is a pink collar-shirt, brown trousers, headphones and sunglasses to look the part.
